The Cystic Fibrosis DataBase (CFDB) service has the purpose to describe the state of the art of clinical research in cystic fibrosis (CF) and to provide a general summary of the current findings and of areas that require further studies.
The CFDB is a useful tool for:
- clinic and care professionals;
- active researchers in the field of CF;
- people with CF and their family members.
The main objective of the database is to classify systematic reviews of scientific literature and primary studies (randomized and non-randomized, completed and ongoing) in an orderly and user-friendly system (database).
CFDB allows you to get answers to questions such as:
- Which interventions have proven effective?
- In which patients?
- What are the outcomes?
- Are the results of the studies sufficiently robust?
- What is the impact of the literature findings?
The two main functions are:
- Database: search by keywords or free text, by author, or by year, in a collection of approximately 1,400 articles on the clinical effectiveness of cystic fibrosis interventions;
- 50 summary thematic sheets (or topics), on clinical aspects of cystic fibrosis offering a critical overview of the current evidence and highlighting open issues for future research.
The database is structured as a website, freely accessible to the entire international scientific community at the following address: cfdb.eu.
To find out more, please check the presentation by Dr. Roberto Buzzetti, head of the CFDB, held on 16 January 2024 during the FFC Ricerca Research Services webinars cycle.
