Developed skills and lines of research
Paola Barraja graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Palermo in 1992. Since 2002, she has been Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the same university and to date she carries out her research activities at the Department of Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies, University of Palermo. Barraja’s research in the CF field is aimed at developing new correctors of the CFTR-F508del protein capable of synergistically enhancing the action of known first-generation correctors.
Her current scientific output exceeds 100 papers in international journals, with more than 2,000 citations. She is also co-author of 6 patents, 2 of which are international.
