Developed skills and lines of research
Francesca Biavasco earned her degree in Biological Sciences in 1978 from the University of Genoa, and in 1988, she obtained her PhD in Microbiological Sciences from the same university. She fulfilled the role of Full Professor of General Microbiology at the Polytechnic University of Marche. In the Biomedical Microbiology and Bacteriology Laboratory, where she worked, her research focused on general, clinical, and marine microbiology, utilizing basic microbiological techniques and molecular methods. Many projects included the study and characterization of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms isolated from various sources, as well as investigations into genetic elements involved in the spread of antibiotic resistance and microbial pathogenicity. Francesca Biavasco is the co-author of 96 scientific articles, 62 of which are peer-reviewed, and has contributed to over 100 conference presentations.
