Developed skills and lines of research

Carla Colombo has held the position of Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Milan since 2001. Belonging to the Department of Medical-Surgical Pathophysiology and Transplantation, Director of the Complex Operative Unit – Cystic Fibrosis Pediatrics at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, since 2006 she has been Level II Medical Director – Director U.O.C. Cystic Fibrosis Pediatrics at Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan. She is also coordinator of multidisciplinary team activities and fund management and head of the outpatient pediatric gastroenterology clinic. Since 2012, the Center has been a member of the Clinical Trial Network of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society, (www.ecfs.eu.ctn), a network of European Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Centers which, given their high scientific and clinical outcome standards, are preferentially offered participation in controlled clinical trials of relevant scientific and therapeutic quality. Her research in cystic fibrosis is aimed at establishing a single cell and animal model to investigate the pathogenesis of infection by members of the Mycobacterium abscessus complex in patients with cystic fibrosis.
