Developed skills and lines of research
Aldo Di Leonardo earned his master’s degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Palermo in 1977. Since 2001, he has been an Associate Professor at the STEBICEF department of the University of Palermo. He has served as principal investigator for various grants from the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC). For the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, he worked on correcting stop mutations in the CFTR gene through messenger RNA (mRNA) editing. This approach transforms the stop signal in the genetic code into a sense signal, enabling the synthesis of the full-length CFTR protein. He is the co-author of over 100 publications in international journals.
