Developed skills and lines of research
Ilaria Lampronti is an Associate Professor at the Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at the University of Ferrara. She earned her degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology with honors in 1995 and her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1999 from the same institution.
Her primary research interests include studying the molecular bases of hereditary diseases and cancer, inflammation in cystic fibrosis, and the development of new drugs. For FFC Ricerca, she has consistently worked on innovative anti-inflammatory therapeutic strategies and correcting the basic defect caused by the F508del mutation, the most frequent among individuals with cystic fibrosis. Currently, her focus is on developing a new anti-inflammatory agent for treating lung disease in cystic fibrosis.
She has authored or co-authored over 140 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, four book chapters, and is the co-inventor of nine patents related to drug development for genetic diseases such as thalassemia and cystic fibrosis.
