Developed skills and lines of research

Gianfranco Pasut earned a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology and Chemistry from the University of Padua in 1999 and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same institution in 2003. Since 2017, he has been a Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences at the University of Padua.

His current research interests are in the field of pharmaceutical nanotechnology, particularly the use of polymers for the delivery of proteins and small molecules. His work includes the design and engineering of site-specific protein conjugates, targeted antitumor conjugates, and the development of enzymatic methods for conjugating polymers to proteins and oligonucleotides.

For cystic fibrosis, he aims to analyze and produce a new enzyme, DNase2b, with more effective and prolonged mucolytic action on bronchial secretions compared to the DNase currently used in CF patients.
