Developed skills and lines of research
Born in Maglie (Lecce) in 1987, Edoardo Scarpa graduated in Biotechnology from the University of Salento (2009) and continued his studies at the University of Parma, graduating cum laude in Medical Biotechnology (2009). He then moved to England where he obtained a Master’s degree (2013) and a PhD (2017) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Southampton. Subsequently, he was a researcher at University College London (2017-2019) and Project coordinator for SomaNautix Limited (2019-2020) in London, before returning to Italy at the University of Milan and the Institute of Molecular Genetics (INGM), where he currently works. Over the years, his research has ranged from regenerative medicine to oncology and infections, maintaining as a common thread the use of nanotechnologies to precisely deliver pharmacological therapies. His interest in infections led him to research in the CF field where he intends to find a way to “re-educate” the immune system to fight pathogen invasion. His research has been published in over 25 papers in leading international journals.
