Developed skills and lines of research

Marco Sette was born in Rome in 1964 and graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, focusing on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) of metalloproteins. He continued in this field during his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology, carried out in Rome and partly at the University of California, Davis. Subsequently, he worked on structural studies of ribosomal proteins and DNA-binding proteins at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, collaborating with the University of Camerino. Since 1996, he has been a researcher at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome and since 2019 he has also been affiliated with the Sorbonne-Paris Nord University in France. He studies the structure and interactions between biomolecules using spectroscopic techniques – particularly NMR – and bioinformatics methodologies. More recently, he has undertaken the structural study of therapeutically relevant peptides, such as antimicrobial, anticancer, and immunogenic peptides. He maintains active collaborations, particularly with the universities of Utrecht (NL), Florence, Linz (AT), and Vanderbilt (USA).
