Developed skills and lines of research

Mario Strazzabosco graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1982 from the University of Padua and specialized in Internal Medicine. Today he is a Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Milan Bicocca and Director of the Master’s programs in Transplant Medicine. Prof. Strazzabosco’s scientific activity is documented by over 200 publications in leading international journals. His main research interests concern the pathophysiology of biliary tract diseases, the biology of hepatic stem cells, liver transplantation, and hepatocellular carcinoma. He is the director of a research group that deals with the cellular and molecular biology of the liver. In the field of liver pathology, he has produced research concerning cystic fibrosis.

Projects funded by FFC Ricerca as Principal Investigator or as Research Manager

CFTR-defective biliary cells from human induced pluripotent-stem cells (iPSC) as a model to study the role of innate immunity in cystic fibrosis liver disease

FFC#18/2012
Cystic Fibrosis liver disease: the role of CFTR as regulator of epithelial innate immunity
