Developed skills and lines of research
Harm Tiddens completed his medical internship in 1985 at the University of Amsterdam and received his PhD with a thesis entitled Structure and function of chronically inflamed human airways from the University of Rotterdam. Since 1994, he has been an associate professor at the Dept. of Pediatrics, Subdivision Pediatric Respiratory Medicine (head: Professor JC de Jongste), Sophia Children’s Hospital, Rotterdam. For years he has been intensely involved in clinical research in the CF field, with particular interest in imaging studies, especially at the level of Computer Tomography. He collaborates with FFC Ricerca and the CF Center of Verona to evaluate whether CT (computed axial tomography) influences physician decisions to a different extent than standard chest X-rays and other clinical investigations.
