Developed skills and lines of research
Carla Vignaroli graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Urbino in 1991, and obtained a PhD in Basic and Applied Microbiology from the University of Padua. She is currently an Associate Professor in Microbiology at the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences at the Polytechnic University of Marche in Ancona. Her research activity is mainly focused on the study of antibiotic resistance in various bacterial species (enterococci, staphylococci, Enterobacteriaceae) with particular interest in the molecular characterization of the genetic elements involved in the spread of antibiotic resistance and in microbial pathogenicity. The study of VBNC forms in S. aureus and in P. aeruginosa and the evaluation of the activity of new molecules against these often multi-resistant and biofilm-producing human pathogens are also currently topics of interest for her research group.
