PROJECTS AND FACILITIES
TOWARD A CURE FOR ALL

Our research

Projects and FACILITIES

The Foundation’s Scientific Committee selects research projects to fund based on two key objectives: improving current treatments to increase both the quality and duration of patients’ lives, and addressing the basic defect that causes cystic fibrosis in order to find a definitive cure for all. To support the researchers’ network, the Foundation also invests in three research facilities.

RESEARCH PROJECT

Here are listed all research projects funded by the Foundation from 2002 to today, divided by scientific area. The FFC Ricerca Scientific Committee selects them according to two fundamental goals: improving the available treatments to increase the quality of life of pwCF; finding a definitive cure for CF acting on the basic defect.

RESEARCH FACILITIES

Through agreements with qualified institutions, the Foundation finances three support services for its research network:

  1. (CFaCore)a centralized structure dedicated to the use of animal models , to transfer basic knowledge to preclinical applications, encouraging the development of new strategies for the treatment of the disease;
  2. Primary Cultures Service: a laboratory dedicated to the preparation and distribution of primary cultures of respiratory epithelium, to give researchers the possibility of using a cellular model that is as similar as possible to the bronchial epithelium in vivo;
  3. CFDB: an online consultation tool, which allows a quick and detailed search of all clinical trials in cystic fibrosis.

The results of research projects

Committed to transparency, the Foundation keeps project sponsors and individual donors informed by sharing the results once research projects are completed. In addition to selecting and funding cutting-edge cystic fibrosis research, the Foundation ensures that the outcomes of funded and adopted projects are openly disseminated.

THE RESEARCHERS

CALLS

The mission of FFC Ricerca is to boost scientific research on cystic fibrosis. The best research projects are selected through a  peer-review process followed by a final evaluation by the Foundation Scientific Committee.

Call Gianni Mastella

Call on research projects in CF dedicated to young researchers. Two granting options are available. The call is in memory of Professor Gianni Mastella.

Call FFC Ricerca 2025

Annual call to select projects with the potential to increase knowledge on CF and quality of life of people with CF.
